直線的なパーツの繊細な組合せによる幻想的な立体美「津軽傳統組子」

津軽傳統組子は、飛鳥時代から約1300年以上続く建築物の装飾として受け継がれている組子の一種である。
細く挽いた木に溝や穴、ホゾを彫り、直線的ないくつものパーツを組み合わせることで、
立体的で複雑な幾何学模様を描くことが、津軽傳統組子の特長である。
その技法は籠のような模様を表現する「目潰し本篭目」、木材を縦横互いに組み付ける「本捻組」、三角形を複合し六角形の亀甲模様を織りなす「亀甲組子」など多岐にわたり、屋内装飾、行燈、衝立、屏風、球体のランプシェード、バッグなど幅広い製品を作り出すことができる。

Tsugaru traditional “Kumiko” Woodworking: The delicate combination of linear parts to create 3D forms with a dream-like beauty

Tsugaru traditional kumiko is a type of kumiko woodworking that has been handed down for more than 1,300 years since the Asuka period as a form of building ornamentation.
It is characterized by three-dimensional and complex geometric patterns depicted by carving grooves, holes, and tenons on finely sawed wood and combining numerous linear parts.
There are many diverse techniques,such as metsubushi-hon-kagome which depicts basket-like patterns, “hon-neji-gumi,” in which the wood pieces are assembled horizontally and vertically perpendicular to each other, and “tortoiseshell kumiko,”
which combines triangles into hexagonal tortoiseshell patterns.It is possible to create a wide range of products, such as interior decorations, paper lamps, partitioning screens,  folding screens, spherical lampshades, and bags.
